Why do Christians creep me out?

I've just been watching some American films based on Christians (not Christianity but just Christians). For some reason most of the subjects and scenes in the films make me cringe. Now I've read the bible (Old and New) and it wasn't the worst story of all time but these people just creep me out. Is this because of their ignorance or mine and why?
